Sarathi Restaurant

Sarathi Restaurant is over in Mangalore, specifically in the Linking Towers on Maidan Road. We’re right at the 2nd Cross Road, which is a busy spot near the big open ground where people gather for all sorts of things. Being in a coastal town, the air is usually a bit humid, so we try to keep the fans going at full speed inside. The restaurant isn't very big, but we’ve managed to fit enough tables to handle the lunch rush. Most of our regulars are people who work in the nearby offices or shops around Maidan Road. They come in looking for something quick before they have to head back to work. We don't have a corporate look or anything polished like that. The walls have a few old pictures and the furniture is the kind that’s built to last, not necessarily to look stylish. You can hear the traffic from the cross road outside, and the kitchen staff usually has the radio on or they’re talking loudly over the sound of the pans. It’s a very local atmosphere where people know each other’s faces. Sometimes the floor gets a little messy when it’s raining outside and everyone is coming in with wet umbrellas, but we try to keep up with it. It’s just a straightforward place to get some food and take a breather from the city noise for a while before moving on.
