You can find us at No. 8 Chakarai Chetty Street. It’s a busy little road and things get quite hectic during the middle of the day. We are in the steel business, so there is always a lot of heavy lifting going on. The shop is not very big, but we use every inch of space we have to store the materials. Often, you will see us out on the sidewalk moving things around just to make room for a new shipment. It is a lot of hard work and your hands get dirty pretty fast. We don’t really have a reception area or anything fancy. If you come by, you just walk in and find one of us. Usually, someone is on the phone or checking a list. The building is older, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it serves its purpose. We have been here on this street for quite some time now. We know the other shop owners around us. Sometimes we sit out on the steps for a short break when the weather is nice. The traffic on the street can be a nightmare sometimes, especially when the delivery vans are blocking the way for everyone else. We just keep going, doing what needs to be done. It is a practical life, dealing with metal every day. There are no frills here, just the work and the people doing it. We just keep our heads down and finish the day.
