A K Steel Corporation sits over on Mugappair Road, near the Padi area at number 80/58. If you know the road, it’s usually packed with people moving from one place to another. We work with steel, so things can get a bit heavy and loud around the yard. It isn’t the kind of job where you stay clean all day. There is always the smell of metal and the sound of it being moved around. We’ve got a decent amount of space to keep the different types of steel organized, though it feels like we’re always rearranging things to make more room. Most of our days are spent checking measurements and making sure the right pieces go to the right people. It’s honest work, and it keeps us on our feet. We don’t really do the whole office vibe; it’s more about being out where the action is. Sometimes the heat in Chennai makes the steel almost too hot to touch, so we have to be careful during those summer months. People come to us because we’re right here on the road and easy to reach. We don't have any big speeches about what we do. We just supply steel and try to stay on top of the orders. It’s what we’ve been doing for a while now, and we’ve gotten pretty used to the rhythm of the place. Just a regular business trying to get things done.
