K. R. V. Fabrications

We are located at number 14 in the SIDCO Industrial Estate. Ambattur is full of places like ours, but we’ve been at this specific spot for a long time. It’s a fabrication shop. That means a lot of welding sparks and the smell of burnt metal. We have heavy benches where we bend and cut steel. It’s not a quiet place to work. You have to shout sometimes to be heard over the grinders. Most of the time, it’s just me and a couple of helpers moving heavy sheets of iron around. We don't have a fancy office. There’s a small desk in the corner covered in scraps of paper and old measurements. We do the work as it comes in. Sometimes it's a big gate, sometimes just small brackets. We don't really care as long as it keeps the lights on. The floor is concrete and always has some bits of metal shavings on it. We wear heavy boots because you never know what might drop. In the evenings, we shut the big rolling door and head home, usually tired and covered in soot. It’s a basic life, but we like working with our hands. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just weld things together so they stay that way. The noise is just part of our daily routine here.
