Virendra Rawat

My name is Virendra Rawat and you can find me over at 68 Bengali Market on Todarmal Road. It's a pretty well-known spot in the area. The shop isn't very large, but we make it work. I’ve been around here for quite some time now. Every morning starts with opening the shutters and setting things up for the day. The market gets really busy around lunchtime, so we usually have to move fast then. It can get a bit cramped inside when there are more than three people waiting. I don't really have a big team or anything, just a few hands to help out with the daily tasks. We keep the place tidy, though it’s an old building so it has its quirks. The light flickers sometimes and the floor isn't perfectly level if you look closely. I like being in Bengali Market because you get to see all kinds of people every day. Some people have been coming here for years and we know their names. Others just pass through while they are shopping. I don't do much advertising; people usually just see the sign or hear about us from a neighbor. It's a simple way to make a living. I usually stay until late in the evening before heading home. If you are walking down Todarmal Road, you'll see us right there. It’s nothing fancy, just a small business trying to do things right every day without too much fuss or worry.
