This is where Bhanupratap Singh Dhakar works, at 219 Patiala House Courts in the New Lawyers Chamber. It’s a place where there is always a lot of movement. You see lawyers and clients rushing around all day long. Our chamber isn't very big, but it’s full of books and files. That's just the way it is when you work in the courts. We spend a lot of time reading through papers and talking about cases. It’s a serious environment but we try to keep things down to earth. We aren't interested in being part of some big law firm with glass walls. We like being right here in the middle of the action at Patiala House. The building has a lot of history and you can feel it when you walk through the halls. Most of our days are spent meeting people or going to the courtrooms. It's a lot of walking back and forth. We just handle the legal stuff that comes our way. Sometimes it’s stressful, but mostly it’s just the job. We know the other people in the chambers and it feels like a small community. We don't use a lot of big words or try to confuse people. We just tell them how it is and what we can do to help. Our desks are messy, but we know exactly where every document is hidden. That's just our way of working through the legal maze every day.
