Urmila Nautiyail

My office is at 185-B in the Patiala House Courts Lawyers Chamber. It's a small room, like most of the chambers around here. Urmila Nautiyail is the name on the door. If you’ve ever been to Patiala House, you know how it is—busy, crowded, and always full of people rushing somewhere. I spend most of my time surrounded by stacks of files and law books that seem to grow every week. There’s a specific smell of old paper and tea that never really leaves the place. It’s not a glamorous setup, just a desk, a couple of chairs for visitors, and shelves that are starting to sag. I spend my days reading through documents and preparing for the next matter. The courts are just a short walk away, which is convenient when things are moving fast. Sometimes I eat lunch at my desk while looking over a file. It’s a lot of reading and writing, then more reading. People come in with all sorts of problems, and I just try to look through the details as best as I can. It’s a quiet space in the middle of a very noisy building. That’s just how it goes for me here in the chamber. I've had the same wooden chair for years and it creaks a bit, but it's comfortable enough for the long hours I put in. There is always someone knocking on the door.
