Raju

If you go to Karol Bagh and head into Gaffar Market, you will find Raju. It is a very crowded place and our shop is right in the middle of all that noise and energy. People are always pushing past and yelling about prices but we just stay in our little spot. We deal with a lot of different things, mostly small items and accessories that people are looking for when they visit this market. It’s a small space, so we have boxes stacked up high to fit everything in. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough room to move, but somehow we manage to find what someone is asking for. The morning starts with opening up the shutters and dusting off the counters because the market gets very dusty. By midday, it is usually so busy that we don't even have time to sit down for tea. We have seen the market change a lot over the years but our way of working is still the same. Talking to customers, showing them what we have, and trying to be helpful is our daily routine. It is a simple life and we like being part of the chaos of Gaffar. There is always something happening outside the door, whether it’s a new shop opening or just the usual crowd of shoppers looking for a deal. We just stay focused on the work and keep going until it is time to close up.
