I work out of Chamber 70 on Tilak Marg, located right within the Lawyers Chambers at the Supreme Court of India. Being in this location means the days are usually very structured around the court timings. The chamber itself is a small room but it holds a lot of history and a lot of documents. I have shelves lining the walls filled with legal texts and case files from over the years. It can get a bit cramped when there are a few people inside, but it serves its purpose well. The atmosphere around the Supreme Court is always serious and people are constantly moving in a hurry. I usually get in early to beat the worst of the Tilak Marg traffic and stay until the work for the next day is prepped. There is a small desk where I sit and do most of my writing and reading. It is not a place with modern furniture or glass walls; it is a traditional lawyer’s chamber with old wooden chairs and the smell of paper everywhere. We keep things simple and focus on the files on the desk. It is a busy life, but it is the one we have here in the middle of the legal district. Most days are spent between the courtrooms and this small office space.
