Nandlal Tandoor Wala

Our workshop is over on Roshanara Road, tucked in near the Nerula Engineering Works. You’ll find us right across from where the Jaipur Golden Transport trucks are always parked. We go by the name Nandlal Tandoor Wala, and we’ve been making clay and metal tandoors in this same spot for a long time now. It’s not a fancy office or a polished showroom. Most days, it is just us working with our hands, getting the clay right and welding the metal frames together. The road is usually pretty loud with all the traffic and the sound of hammers hitting iron. My father started this business years ago, and I just kept it going because it’s what we know. We don’t have any marketing people or a big mission statement. We just make tandoors that work for the local dhabas and restaurants around Delhi. Sometimes the clay takes forever to dry when the weather gets humid, and that can slow us down, but we just deal with it. Our hands are almost always dirty from the materials, and the shop floor is a bit of a mess with scraps. People usually just drop by or give us a call when they need something. We don't use any high-tech machines, just the old tools that have worked for years. It’s honest work, and we stay busy enough without needing to put up big advertisements or anything like that. We just focus on the tandoors and getting the orders done for our neighbors.
