Durga Das Tandoor Wala

Down here in Sant Nagar, specifically on Pepsi Road, you’ll find us at A-157 in Harit Vihar. This little spot in Mandir Wali Gali is where all the work happens for Durga Das Tandoor Wala. We’ve been building and fixing tandoors for quite a while now. It’s the kind of work that takes a lot of patience and some strong hands, especially when the weather gets warm. Most of our neighbors know us because of the clay and the bricks we use. We don't have a big front desk or a receptionist. Usually, I'm the one answering the door or picking up the phone when it rings. Buradi is a busy place, and being in Mandir Wali Gali means we see a lot of people passing by every day. We just try to make sure every tandoor we finish is solid and does its job properly. It's not the cleanest work, you end up with dust on your clothes by noon, but it’s what we do. Sometimes people come from far away just to see how we build them. We don't have any fancy brochures to give them, we just show them the actual work being done right there on the floor. It’s a family-style environment, nothing too formal. We drink a lot of tea while we work and just keep things moving along as best as we can. It’s just us doing what we know and getting by.
