You can find M Y Khan right in the middle of Old Lajpat Rai Market. We are at 5 Main Qutab Road. It is a very busy street, almost always crowded with people and carts. We’ve been here for years, and the shop is pretty much how it’s always been. It’s not a modern place with air conditioning or sleek shelves. We have things stacked where they fit. Working in Old Lajpat Rai Market means you get used to the noise and the energy of the crowd. Every day is a bit different, but the work stays the same. We deal with whatever comes through the door. It’s a family-run kind of feeling here. We know the neighbors and the other shopkeepers along Qutab Road. Sometimes we stand outside just to catch a bit of air. The building is old, and it has its quirks, like the squeaky door or the dim lighting in the back. We don’t mind. It’s where we do our business. People know us by name, which is nice. We don't do much advertising. Most people just walk in because they were passing by or someone told them about us. It’s an honest way to make a living. We just keep the doors open and see who stops in. 5 Main Qutab Road is our home away from home. There is always hot tea around if someone wants to sit for a minute.
