Gopal Jee

My family started Gopal Jee a long time back. We are right in the Ganga Ram Building on Ajmal Khan Road. It gets pretty loud outside with all the traffic in Aram Bagh, but we are used to it by now. Most days I get here early to open up the shutters before the sun gets too high. The shop isn't huge, but we keep things organized the best we can. People come in looking for specific stuff, and usually, we have it tucked away somewhere on a high shelf or in the back. It’s funny how the neighborhood has changed over the years. Some shops nearby have closed down or turned into fancy cafes, but we just keep doing what we do. My uncle used to run things, and now I handle the day-to-day. We don't really do any advertising or anything like that. People just know where we are. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the front door if it's a heavy storm, so we keep a bucket handy. It's just a normal workplace. We know the tea seller down the street by name, and he knows exactly how we like our chai. If you’re walking down Ajmal Khan Road, you’ll see our sign. It’s not flashy. Just says Gopal Jee in simple letters. We try to be helpful when someone asks a question, though some days are busier than others and we might be a bit rushed. That’s just how it goes here in Delhi.
