Down in Narayanpur, Bulandshahr, you’ll find us at Mufeek Khan’s place. We go by the name Ahmad Layik Farmers Producer Company Limited, but around here, people just know us as the neighbors who farm the nearby plots. Bulandshahr is a place where farming is everything, so we fits right in with the rest of the town. We aren't doing anything special or fancy, just gathering up what we grow and trying to get it to market without too many headaches. Mufeek’s spot serves as a bit of a hub for us to drop off supplies or just catch up on what the local officials are saying about the water. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait around, but that gives us time to drink some tea and talk. We don't use big words or have some grand vision. We just want the seeds to grow and the animals to stay healthy. It is a lot of physical labor, and at the end of the day, everyone is tired. But there is a certain rhythm to it that feels right. The soil in Narayanpur can be stubborn sometimes, but if you treat it okay, it gives back. We are just a small group trying to stay afloat and keep the tradition of this land going as best as we can. It’s just how things have always been for us around here and we don't expect it to change much.
