You have to head out towards Kulrian Road in the Budhlada tehsil to find us. Sant Baba Attar Singh Public School sits in a spot that’s a bit away from the main town noise. Mansa can get very dusty, and our school is no exception. We spend a lot of time sweeping the floors. It’s a simple building surrounded by fields, which gives the kids some fresh air. Life moves a bit slower here compared to the big cities. We don't have fancy computer labs with the latest gadgets, but we have enough for the kids to learn the basics. The teachers often come from the nearby villages. We know the families of almost every student who walks through our doors. It’s a close-knit place. Sometimes the cows from the nearby farms wander close to the fence, and the kids get a laugh out of it. We focus on teaching the kids how to read, do their math, and understand the world around them. It’s not a complicated operation. We have our annual functions where everyone gets together, and it’s always a bit of a chaotic mess, but in a good way. We aren't trying to be a corporate school. We are just a local place for children in the Mander area to get an education. It’s honest work, and we do our best with what we have. Most days are long, but seeing the children learn makes it worthwhile.
