Rita Public School is tucked away in Gurtag Bhadur Nagar on Street Number 20 in Bhatinda. It’s a quiet residential lane where most people know their neighbors. The school has a small gate and a brick wall that we try to keep neat. Inside, there is a small area for the kids to run around before the classes start. Our rooms are basic with simple fans and rows of desks that have seen many years of use. We have a small room for the principal and another for the teachers to keep their things and have some tea. The school has been here for a long time, and we have seen many brothers and sisters from the same families come through our doors. In the winter, the sun hits the front of the building nicely, so we sometimes move the smaller classes outside to sit in the warmth. We don't have a lot of modern equipment, just the textbooks and whatever we can draw on the boards to explain things. The bells are rung by hand, and you can hear them all the way down the street. It’s just a regular neighborhood school where we focus on the daily lessons and making sure everyone shows up on time. It can be a bit chaotic during the lunch break, but otherwise, it’s a fairly orderly place. We just want to make sure the kids learn their basics and pass their exams.
