Karam Raja Farmers Producer Company Limited

Down in Markundi, specifically around the Kendudihabadasahi area, we set up Karam Raja Farmers Producer Company Limited. It’s not a big corporate thing, just a bunch of us who have been farming these fields for many years. We noticed that when we work together, we don’t get pushed around as much by the middleman. The office is located right in the village, so it’s easy for anyone to walk in after they finish their work in the fields for the day. We talk about the rain, the soil, and what we’re going to do for the next season. Some people grow rice, others do vegetables, and we try to make sure everyone gets a fair shake. It’s a lot of paperwork sometimes, which none of us really likes, but it’s necessary to keep the company running legal and right. We don't use big words or try to act like we know everything. We just know what it takes to grow things in this dirt. Every day is a bit different here. Sometimes we are unloading bags of seeds, and other times we are just sitting on the porch talking about the market prices. It’s a real community effort. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just making sure our families in Markundi have a better chance at making a decent living from the land we’ve always known.
