Kisan Bodhgamya Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our little group, Kisan Bodhgamya Farmer Producer Company Limited, has its office at 317 Bisanda Road in the grameen area. It’s a very basic setup, just a couple of rooms where we keep our records and meet with the farmers from the surrounding villages. We aren't a big corporation with lots of money. In fact, most of the time we are just trying to scrape together enough to keep things moving. We started this because we felt that the individual farmer was getting lost in the shuffle. By coming together, we can at least have a voice. Most of our members are just regular folks who grow vegetables and grains. We spend a lot of time talking about the water supply and the cost of diesel. It’s not always a smooth process. Sometimes there are disagreements about which crops to focus on, and the office can get pretty loud during those meetings. We don't have a professional cleaning crew or a receptionist; we just take turns keeping the place tidy. It’s a very local, hands-on kind of business. We’re more comfortable in the fields than we are in an office, but we know we have to do this to survive in today's market. It’s just a group of us trying to make the best of what we have. If you come by, don't expect anything fancy, just some tea and some honest talk about farming life on Bisanda Road.
