We’re over here at Daljeet Singh’s place in Rasoolapur Bujurg, right in the Banda area. It’s not a big fancy office or anything, just where we get together to talk about the crops and the work ahead. We started H S Chahal Brother Farmer Producer Company Limited because doing everything alone was getting too tough for some of us. Farming out here has its ups and downs, honestly. Some years the rain stays away too long, and other times it pours when you don’t need it at all. We’re just local people, brothers and neighbors mostly, trying to get the most out of our land without getting buried in costs. You’ll usually find us arguing about the price of seeds or figuring out how to get the tractor fixed up before the next season starts. It’s messy work and our hands are rarely clean, but that’s the way it is in the village. We don’t have any big speeches to give about what we do. It is just about planting, waiting, and hoping the market treats us fair when it’s time to sell. If you come by Banda looking for us, don’t expect any big signs. Just look for the people working the fields around Rasoolapur. We’ve lived here all our lives, so we know the soil pretty well by now. It’s just us, the land, and a lot of patience.
