Jan Bharti Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Natthu Lalanwa Buzurg in the Banda area. It’s a quiet place for the most part, but there is always something to do when you’re working with the land. Around Banda, the weather can be a real struggle, sometimes it’s so dry you think nothing will ever come up from the soil. But we keep going. We aren’t some corporate team in suits. We are just local people who know what it’s like to have dirt under our fingernails every single day. We got together because it seemed like a better way to handle the crops and the selling part of the job. In Natthu Lalanwa Buzurg, everyone knows everyone else’s business anyway, so starting this company just felt like the next logical step for us. We sit around and discuss things like fertilizer or why the yield wasn't as good as last year. There isn't any big secret to what we do here. We just work hard and try to make sure we get a fair shake for the stuff we grow. Sometimes the meetings go on too long because everyone has a different opinion, but that’s just how it goes with neighbors. It’s about the community here in Banda and making sure our families have what they need from the farm work we do day in and day out. It’s not about getting rich, it’s about surviving the season.
