The Kaira District Co-Operative Milk Producers' Union Ltd is located at the Amul Dairy campus in Anand. This is a massive place that feels like a small town on its own. It is where everything started, and being here you can really feel the history of the cooperative. There are huge stainless steel tanks everywhere and pipes running between buildings. Thousands of people work here, from the people testing the milk to the ones driving the delivery vehicles. The air always has a faint smell of fresh milk or butter being processed. Our daily routine involves a lot of coordination between the village societies and the main plant. It is a very busy environment with people constantly walking across the campus between different departments. We have old trees providing shade in some areas, which is a nice break from the sun. The office buildings are a mix of very old structures and some newer additions. Working here means being part of a very large system, but on a day-to-day basis, it is just about making sure the milk from the farmers is collected and processed without any delay. We sit at our desks, handle the paperwork, and talk to the union members. It is a place where hard work is expected and everyone knows their specific role in the whole process. There is no pretense here, just a lot of people doing a very big job.
