You’ll find us right on Amul Dairy Road, which is pretty much the heart of things around here. This place is huge and there is always something moving. Whether it’s the big tankers bringing in fresh milk or the smaller trucks heading out with crates, the gates never really seem to close. Working at the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation means being part of a very long chain of people, from the farmers in the villages to the folks in the city. Most of us here are just focused on the daily logistics. We spend a lot of time checking numbers, looking at temperature gauges, and making sure the crates are stacked properly. It’s a lot of routine. The smell of milk is everywhere, and you get used to it after the first few days. We wear our uniforms and follow the shift schedules strictly because the milk doesn't wait for anyone. It’s not a quiet place at all. There’s the constant drone of the cooling plants and the sound of plastic crates clacking together. We grab lunch in the canteen and talk about the rain or the milk prices. It’s a massive operation but when you’re on the ground, it just feels like a lot of individual tasks that need to get done before the day is over. We aren't doing anything fancy, just making sure the supply keeps moving. We take our shifts seriously without making too much of a fuss about it.
