Bharawan Da Dhaba

Our place is sitting right at Town Hall in Amritsar, directly opposite the Municipal Corporation building. If you know this part of the city, you know how busy it gets with all the offices and tourists walking around. We are a traditional dhaba, so things are pretty straightforward here. We have been serving food in this spot for quite a long time now. The atmosphere is loud and energetic, exactly what you would expect from a place in the heart of Amritsar. We don't have fancy decorations or soft music playing. Instead, you hear the sounds of the kitchen and people talking over their meals. Being near the Town Hall means we get a mix of office workers during lunch and families in the evening. The street outside is almost always packed with rickshaws and people. We just keep our heads down and focus on cooking. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes when it gets really crowded, but people don’t seem to mind much. We use metal plates and heavy glasses, the kind that last a lifetime. Our staff has been with us for years and they know the menu by heart. There is no special secret to what we do, we just show up every day, open the shutters, and start the stoves. It is honest work and we are happy to be part of the local scene here in the old city area. It stays busy from morning until late at night.
