P K Govindan Company is located in Kommady. It's a name people around here recognize because we’ve been around the block a few times. The office isn't much to look at, just some walls and a roof that leaks a tiny bit when the monsoon is really heavy. We have a lot of old files stacked up in the corner because we never seem to throw anything away. It’s just the way we do things. We start early, usually before the heat gets too bad, and try to finish up by the time the evening traffic starts building up on the main road. The name Govindan has been on the door for a long time. We handle the day-to-day stuff without making a big fuss about it. There’s a cat that hangs around the entrance, and we give it a bit of milk now and then. Sometimes it feels like time moves slower here in Kommady than it does in the big cities. We don't mind that much. We talk to the suppliers, check the numbers, and make sure everything is where it should be. It’s a lot of routine, but it’s our routine. There isn't any big secret to it. We just show up, do the jobs that need doing, and try to stay out of the sun. It's a decent way to spend the day. There is always more to do tomorrow.
