Our place is located on Veluthully Road, right at Door No. Xi/60. Being in Chandiroor means we are always close to where the water is. We deal with aquatic products, mostly processing and packing what comes in from the local boats and farms. It smells like the sea around here, which is just part of the job. Most mornings start very early before the sun is even up properly. That is when the fresh catch arrives and everything has to move fast to keep it cold. We have a few cold storage rooms and a lot of ice machines that never seem to stop running. The staff stays busy cleaning and sorting through whatever comes in that day. It isn't a glamorous job and the floors are usually wet. We wear rubber boots all day long. Sometimes the supply is low and other times we have more than we can handle. We just take it day by day. Local drivers know where we are, but visitors might miss the turnoff if they aren't looking. It is a practical business run by people who grew up around these waters. We don't have a front desk or anything like that. Just come to the side door if you need to talk to someone. We spend most of our time out on the floor anyway, so that’s the easiest way to find us. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know.
