Kbhp School is in a place called Masali, which is part of the Bijapur district in Karnataka. It’s quite a rural area, and the school is one of the main buildings in the neighborhood. We have a few blocks of classrooms that were built at different times, so they don’t all look the same. The oldest ones have thick stone walls that stay cool even when the sun is really beating down outside. We have a big open space in front where the kids gather for their morning assembly. It’s mostly just hard-packed earth, so it gets a bit dusty when the wind picks up. The teachers are mostly from the local area, and they know the parents and grandparents of almost every student we have. We don't have a website or any fancy brochures. People just know we’re here. The office is usually full of stacks of notebooks and old registers. Sometimes we run out of chalk or need to fix a leaky pipe, and it takes a few days to get someone out here to look at it. The kids are generally well-behaved, though they get restless on the hot afternoons before the final bell rings. It’s a very quiet, slow-paced kind of place, and we like it that way. We just do our work and go home when the day is finished.
