Gnanajyothi Residential School

Our school is situated out on NH 13, on the Salapur Road between Solapur and Bijapur. Since it’s a residential school, it’s a bit different because the children stay here most of the time. The campus is a bit larger than what you’d find in the middle of a city. We have dormitories where the students sleep and a common dining hall where they have all their meals. Being on the highway, it’s a bit of a drive to get to the main part of Bijapur city. The wind blows quite hard across the open fields around the school. We have a big playground where the kids spend their evenings playing football or just walking around. The classrooms are in a separate block from the living quarters. Everything is kept very functional. We have a kitchen staff that starts cooking very early in the morning to get breakfast ready. The teachers often stay on campus too, so they are around if the kids need anything after classes. The walls are painted a simple cream color, and the floors are plain cement. It’s a quiet place at night, away from the noise of the town. During the day, it’s busy with the sound of lessons and children moving between buildings. We have a gatekeeper who watches the entrance since it’s right by the main road. It’s a steady, hardworking environment for the students living away from home.
