Iqra Urdu High School

Iqra Urdu High School is right by the Jamiya Masjid in Bijapur. Our address is Bijapur Ho, Bijapur-Karnataka, 586101. Being near the Masjid means there is always something going on nearby. It is a busy part of the city. The school itself is an old building that has seen a lot of students pass through its doors over the years. We focus on Urdu medium education because that is what the local community here needs. The rooms are simple, with desks and blackboards. We do not have a lot of extra space, so we make the best of what we have. The teachers are hardworking and have been with us for a long time. They know the families in the area well. It gets quite loud during the breaks when the students are out in the corridors or the small yard. We try to keep things orderly, but with so many teenagers in one place, it is always a challenge. We deal with the usual school problems like broken furniture or missing chalk. It is a very local operation. We do not have a big budget for fancy things, so we just stick to the books and the lessons. It is a straightforward place for kids to get their high school education in Bijapur. Everyone around the Jamiya Masjid knows where we are. We just keep going, year after year, teaching the next group of students.
