About Government Urdu Primary School – Education in Vijayapura
Out here in Kakhandaki Tanda, our school is a pretty straightforward place. It’s a Government Urdu Primary School, so we focus on the basics for the younger children in this part of Bijapur. The location is quite rural, and life moves at a different pace compared to the big cities in Karnataka. Most of the kids come from the local families living nearby in the Tanda. We have a few rooms where the students sit together, and since it’s a primary school, there’s always a lot of noise and energy. The walls have some charts stuck on them, some peeling at the edges because of the weather. We do our best with what we have provided by the government. There isn’t much in the way of big playgrounds, but the kids find space to play anyway. Teaching in Urdu means we keep a lot of local traditions alive in the classroom. Usually, the day starts early before it gets too hot outside. Teachers walk or take local transport to get here. It’s a simple setup, really. No big gates or security guards, just a place for children to learn their letters and numbers. Sometimes the electricity goes out, and we just open the doors wider for light. It’s practical work. We’re just trying to help these kids get a decent start before they move on to bigger schools in the district. It is simple and we are okay with that.
