Stone World

Finding us isn’t too hard if you’re driving along VIT Thiruvalam Road. We are tucked in right near the highway, which makes it handy for people coming from either direction. Stone World is mostly a place full of slabs, dust, and heavy machinery. If you walk through the yard, you’ll see stacks of different stones waiting to be picked up. It gets pretty noisy when the saws are running, so we usually have to shout over the machines to hear each other. We spend most of our time moving heavy pieces of rock around. It’s hard on the back, but we’re used to it by now. The proximity to the highway means there’s a constant hum of traffic in the background while we work. People from the nearby university often pass by, and we get quite a few locals looking for something specific for a kitchen or a floor. It isn’t a polished showroom or anything like that. It’s just a place where stone gets cut and sold. We’ve got piles of offcuts in the corner and guys constantly washing down the slabs so people can see the real color under the dust. Sometimes the rain makes the yard a bit of a mess, but we just keep at it. It’s straightforward work. If you need stone, this is where we are, doing the same thing every day near the road.
