Durga Granites

Out here in Vaduganthangal Village, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. We are located right on the Katpadi Main Road in Gudiyatham. It is a good spot because the lorries can pull in easily from the main road without getting stuck. We deal with granite all day long. The sun gets really hot on the stone out in the yard, so we usually wear hats while we work. This isn't some big office. It is a place where we cut and move heavy slabs of rock. Sometimes the machines are loud and you can't hear yourself talk, but that is just part of the day. My neighbors know us well because we have been at this spot for years. We don't spend money on big ads or fancy signs. Most people just see us as they drive toward Katpadi. We have different kinds of granite stacked up. Some is dark, some is light. We just show people what we have available at the moment. It is hard labor, and our hands are always rough from the grit. But we like being out here in the village. It feels right to work with your hands. If you are passing through Gudiyatham, you can’t miss us. We are usually just out front, checking the stock or talking to the drivers who come to pick up orders.
