This cafe at Karelibaug has been our daily life for a very long time now. Being situated on Bommasandra Road means we see a whole lot of people commuting back and forth. We have to start the fermentation process for the dosa batter the night before. If the weather gets too cold, the batter doesn't rise the way it should, which causes us a lot of stress in the morning. We serve idlis and some other fast food items that people ask for. It is a small space at G 3, so things tend to get a bit tight during the main breakfast hour. We don't have a marketing person or a fancy website that gets updated. Usually, someone just wanders in because they caught the smell of the sambar from the sidewalk. The steam from the big idli cookers often makes the front windows get all foggy. We try to keep our prices at a level where regular working people can afford to eat here every day. It involves a lot of washing dishes and wiping down the tables over and over. The sambar recipe is just something we have always used in our own families. Sometimes we forget to turn the radio off in the corner. It is just a normal, everyday cafe. There isn't anything special to look at inside, but the food is always served hot. We make sure the chutneys are fresh throughout the day and the kitchen stays moving.
