About Anand Farashkana & Caterers – Food & Beverages in Vadodara
We spend a lot of time moving chairs and tables around. Our place is in Nutan Saurabh Society in Fatepura, specifically at 129/A. It is usually a bit of a mess because there are always trucks loading or unloading. Farashkana work means you are never really sitting still. If there is a wedding or a big function, we are up before the sun to get the tents and the catering stuff ready. The kitchen part gets very busy. We have large pots and stoves that take up most of the space. My uncle handles the cooking side while I manage the rentals. We have had these same workers for years. They know how to set things up fast. Sometimes the weather does not help and we have to fix things at the last minute because of wind or rain. It is stressful but it is what we do. People come to us for their family events, and we just try to make sure they have enough seating and the food is hot. We do not spend much time on the computer or doing paperwork. Most of our business is just talking to people and making notes in a big ledger. The neighborhood is quiet normally, but when we have a big delivery, it gets quite loud. We try to be careful with the neighbors’ cars. Life at 129/A is basically just cycles of loading and cleaning dishes. We just keep working through the season until the monsoon starts.
