Siddhi Khaman House

Raopura is one of those old parts of town where things feel a bit different. Our place, Siddhi Khaman House, is located on Subhash Road. We start very early because khaman is a popular breakfast thing for most people around here. I’m usually at the shop while it’s still dark outside, getting the big steamers ready. By the time the sun is up, the first batch is usually done. Subhash Road starts getting busy with traffic and people heading to the market nearby. We serve the khaman on little plates with some fried chilies. It’s a lot of work to keep the taste consistent every day, but we just keep at it. The shop is very simple, just a counter and some space for the customers to stand while they eat. We get a lot of regular people who come every single morning. I know most of them by name now. It’s a noisy street, so there’s always the sound of horns and people talking loudly while they eat. Sometimes we sell out of everything before noon, and then we just spend the rest of the day cleaning up the kitchen and getting ready for the next morning. We don’t really do any marketing or use fancy social media. People just know we’re here on Subhash Road. It’s just a local business, and we’ve been doing it this way for a long time now. The floor is a bit cracked, but it doesn’t seem to bother the regulars at all.
