Anjali Kitchen

If you head over to C 8 on the Pune Satara Road near Alembic Road, you’ll find us at Anjali Kitchen. It’s a small operation, mostly focused on getting things right for the people who live nearby. We don’t have a massive menu with fifty items or anything like that. Instead, we focus on the stuff we know how to make well every single day. The kitchen gets pretty warm in the afternoons, especially when the big stoves are all going at once and the sun is hitting the back window. It’s a family-run thing, so you’ll often see my aunt or my cousin helping out with the chopping and the prep work. We started this because there weren't many places around here that felt like real home cooking. The counters are a bit worn down from years of heavy use, and the chairs don't all match each other, but it’s comfortable enough for a quick meal. Most of our customers are folks heading home from work or people who have been living on Alembic Road for as long as we have been here. We buy our vegetables fresh from the market every morning, so sometimes we run out of certain dishes early if it's been an especially busy day. There’s no big sign with flashing neon lights, just our name on the door and the smell of spices drifting out onto the hot sidewalk. It’s a quiet life, mostly, except during the lunch rush when everyone is in a hurry.
