St Xaviers Public School

We are over in Hattiangady, right where the Sri Siddhivinayaka Residential School is located. It’s a pretty calm spot in Kundapura, mostly surrounded by trees and some local houses. People around here know the place well. We’ve been operating out of this building for some time now, and it’s mostly just a regular daily routine for us. The kids show up early, some coming from quite a distance in Udupi, and we get on with the lessons. It isn’t some massive institution with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a practical school where the classrooms have wooden desks and the blackboards get plenty of use every single day. We spend a lot of time making sure the kids actually finish their homework and stay out of trouble during the breaks. The playground gets a bit dusty in the summer, but the kids don’t seem to mind much. We have a few staff members who have been here since the start. Everyone knows each other’s names, which makes things feel a bit more like a small community than a big business. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just open the windows wider to let the breeze in from the coast. It’s a simple way of living and teaching. We don't do much fancy stuff, just the usual subjects and making sure the kids are ready for their exams. If you walk past the gate in the morning, you’ll hear the assembly starting up.
