St Thomas Residential School

St Thomas Residential School is located in Nithayadhara Nagar, which is part of Yadthare village in Byndoor. It’s right there in the Udupi district, not too far from the coast. You can definitely feel the sea air here, especially when it gets humid in the afternoons. The school has a residential section, so there are always students around the campus even after the main classes end. The building is a simple one, painted a light color that’s started to fade a bit from the heavy rains we get in Byndoor. We have a small playground that gets quite muddy during the monsoon season. Inside, the classrooms are basic with standard benches and chalkboards. The teachers often walk or take local transport to get to Yadthare every morning. We don't have much in the way of high-tech gadgets; it's mostly just pens, paper, and hard work. The routine is the same every day—assembly in the morning, classes until lunch, and then more classes until the evening. For the kids staying in the hostel, there’s a set time for study and a set time for dinner. We spend a lot of our time just managing the logistics of a residential school, like fixing leaky taps or ordering more chalk. It’s a practical, local school where we just try to do our jobs and help the kids learn what they need for their exams.
