Sandeepan School

Sandeepan School is situated right along NH 66 in Nagoor, Khambadakone. Being in Udupi, we get a lot of rain for a big part of the year. You can usually see umbrellas drying out in the hallways and the smell of damp earth is everywhere. The highway is right there, so we get the constant sound of cars heading up and down the coast. The school building is tucked into the greenery, and sometimes the weeds grow faster than we can pull them. We do not have a big marketing team or anything like that. It is mostly just us, a few teachers and the local staff, keeping things going. The desks are a bit old and some of the windows stick when you try to open them. We have a small playground that gets a lot of use, and the grass is usually worn down to the dirt in the middle. We do not worry too much about having everything looking perfect. As long as the kids have their books and the teachers are in the classrooms, we are doing okay. People in Khambadakone know us as the place by the road. We see the same faces every day and we like it that way. It is a simple life here, focused on the basics of getting through the school year without too much trouble from the weather or the heavy traffic. It is just a quiet place where we teach and live.
