Mukunda Kripa English Medium Nursery And Higher Primary School

Down on Kalinga Rao Lane, just off Rajaji Marg in Udupi, you’ll find Mukunda Kripa English Medium Nursery And Higher Primary School. It’s a bit of a long name, but most people just call it the school on the corner. We deal with both very young kids in the nursery and the older ones in the higher primary sections. This means our hallways are almost always filled with a mix of high-pitched shouting and the more serious sounds of older kids studying. The building is an older style that fits in with the rest of Udupi. We have to deal with the heavy rains during the monsoon, which sometimes makes the playground a bit of a swamp, but the kids don't seem to mind much. Our classrooms are simple with wooden desks and big windows to let in the breeze from outside. The teachers have their hands full, especially with the little ones who are just starting out. We don’t use a lot of fancy technology here; we prefer using books and the chalkboard for everything. It’s a practical way of doing things that has worked for us for a long time. Parents from the neighborhood trust us because we’ve been here for years. We just focus on the day-to-day tasks like finishing the syllabus and making sure the kids are safe. It’s a busy, somewhat messy, but very real place. We enjoy the work, even when it’s tiring at the end of a long week.
