Our office is located at No-4 Rajagarh in Dimakuchi. It’s way out in the Udalguri district, which is part of the BTAD area. It’s a beautiful place to live, even if it’s a bit far from the big cities. We set this company up so the producers here would have a bit more say in how things are sold. Most of us come from families that have been farming this land for generations. We don't have any big fancy equipment. The office is just a simple building where we gather to talk. Sometimes these meetings go on for a long time because everyone has their own way of doing things. It can be a bit frustrating, but that’s how it is when you work with your neighbors. We deal with whatever the season brings, whether it’s rice or other local crops. The hills are nearby, so the air is a bit fresher here than in Guwahati. We don’t have a lot of money for big advertisements. Most of our work comes from word of mouth in the village. We just want to make sure the people who do the actual work get a fair deal. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s ours. We spend a lot of time worrying about the rain and the market prices. Anyway, we just keep going because that’s all you can do.
