Nihal Gifts & Shringar

The shop is right here in Hathipole, which is always a bit of a squeeze with all the rickshaws and people walking by. It is Nihal Gifts & Shringar. Most days start with sweeping the front and getting the glass cases cleaned up. We have a lot of small items, mostly things people need for weddings or just a small gift for a friend. It gets quite loud outside, but inside we just keep things moving. We’ve been at this address for a long time now. Sometimes the light in the back flickers, but we know where everything is even in the dark. You see a lot of the same faces every week, mostly neighbors or people working in the nearby stalls. It’s not a huge place, just enough room for the counters and a couple of stools if someone needs to sit while looking at bangles. We don't really do much fancy stuff, just keep the shelves stocked with what people ask for. When it rains, the water sometimes pools near the step, so we have to watch out for that. Usually, the afternoons are quiet until the school lets out and then it picks up again. We just take it one day at a time here. It's a living, and it keeps us busy enough. We usually close up when it starts to get dark and the street gets even more crowded.
