Thangamman Impex Private Limited is tucked away on 1st Street in Aranmanai Pudur. Our place is in the Nadu Pangu Thottam area of Tiruppur, which is a very busy part of the city for textiles. We are at door number 16/29. It is a bit of a maze to get here if you don't know the streets well. Inside it is mostly storage and a small space for the staff to sit and do the paperwork. We deal with a lot of different importers and exporters and the phone rings quite a bit throughout the morning. The walls are lined with samples of different fabrics we have handled over the years. It’s a bit dusty because of all the cotton in the air but that’s just how Tiruppur is. We don't have a website or any of that fancy stuff; we just deal with people directly. Most of our days are spent checking the quality of the shipments and making sure the weights are correct for the bills. We have a few steady workers who have been with us for years. We usually take a break in the afternoon for some tea and a chat before finishing up the last of the packing. It’s a modest business and we just try to keep things honest and simple.
