We've been here on Mangalam Road for quite a while now. The building at 207, or old number 86 as some folks still call it, is where everything happens. It’s a busy spot in Karuvampalayam. Most mornings start early before the sun gets too hot. We get the machines running and the floor is usually covered in bits of thread by noon. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular textile unit where people show up and do their jobs. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. That’s just how it is around here. We know the neighbors and they know us. The trucks come and go, taking up space on the road while we load them up. It can get pretty loud when the looms are going, so you have to shout to be heard. We don’t have any big corporate offices or anything like that. Just the main floor and a small desk for the paperwork. My hands are usually a bit dusty from the fabric by the end of the day. We’ve seen the road change over the years, more traffic mostly. But we just keep doing what we do. It’s honest work. If you walk past, you’ll hear the steady rhythm of the machines. It’s a sound we’ve gotten used to after all these years. We aren't doing anything ground-breaking, just keeping the business going day by day.
