Saraswathi Cafe

Saraswathi Cafe is located right on the Main Road in Sankarankovil, very close to the bus stop. Being in Tirunelveli, it gets quite hot, so people often duck in here to get away from the sun for a bit. Since the buses stop just a few steps away, we get a lot of passengers who are in a hurry to grab something before their next connection. You can hear the conductors shouting out destinations all day long from our front door. It’s a small place, No 64 & A/17, and it fills up fast in the mornings when everyone wants their tiffin and coffee. We have a few tables and the walls are just plain, nothing special to look at. The kitchen is right there and you can hear the clatter of plates and the hiss of the stove constantly. We don't really do much in terms of decor or anything like that because most people are just here for ten minutes and then they're gone. It’s a local spot where you might see the same neighbor every day or a total stranger who just got off a bus from another town. The floor is usually a bit wet from being cleaned so often and the air smells like roasted coffee and spices. It’s just a regular cafe doing what it does every day in the middle of a busy street without any unnecessary complications or fancy additions.
