Karthick Tiffin Centre

We are located in Courtallam, right across from Pandiyan Lodge. If you are in the Tenkasi area, you probably know where the falls are. We are not right at the water, but we are in the main part of town where people stay. Our tiffin centre is a small place. We focus on the basic morning and evening meals. There is no big dining hall, just some space for people to stand or sit on stools. We spend a lot of time near the stove. The air in Courtallam is often damp because of the rain and the waterfalls, so we try to keep everything dry and clean. It gets very busy during the season when the tourists come to bathe in the falls. During those months, we are working from before sunrise until late at night. The rest of the year is much quieter, and we just serve the local people who live in Tenkasi. We do not have a big sign with lights. It is just a simple board that says Karthick Tiffin Centre. Most of our customers come in their flip-flops straight from their lodges. We do not mind the mess of the street; we just focus on the food. It is a simple life here. We have been doing this for a long time and we know most of the people who walk past our door every day while we cook.
