Punitha Fathima Matriculation School

Pulivalam is where we are, right along Sh-200 on the Thiruvarur Road. We are also pretty close to the East Coast Road, so we get a decent breeze most days, though the salt in the air can be a bit of a pain for the building's paint. Punitha Fathima Matriculation School isn't a massive place. We just have the usual classrooms and a yard for the kids to use. Most of the students come in from the nearby villages. Running a school out here means you’re always busy with something, whether it’s checking the supply of chalk or fixing a desk that's seen better days. We don't have a marketing department or a PR person. It’s just us teachers and the staff trying to keep things organized. Sometimes the local bus is late, and we have to wait around with the kids until they get picked up. It's a very hands-on job. You’ll see us out there in the mornings, making sure everyone gets inside okay. We don't use any fancy systems or big words. It's just a school in Pulivalam. We focus on the books and the daily schedule. There's usually a lot of noise from the trucks on the Sh-200, but we've gotten used to it over the years. We just try to provide a decent place for the children around here to spend their day. It’s nothing more, nothing less than that.
