New Sainik Public School

New Sainik Public School is located at 1/111 in Mettupalayam, which is part of the Thiruthuraipoondi area. It is a rural setting, so things are pretty quiet compared to the bigger towns in Tiruvarur. The school building has been here for a bit and it shows its age in some places, but it is solid. We have a small yard where the kids gather in the morning for assembly. It is mostly just dust and a few trees that provide a little cover from the sun. You can hear the sounds of the countryside, like the occasional tractor or goats from the nearby houses. The classrooms are simple with plain walls and wooden benches that have been around for a long time. We do not have fancy decorations or anything. The teachers come in from the nearby villages and we usually share a bit of tiffin during the afternoon break. It is an honest kind of place. We have to deal with the heat, so we keep the windows wide open, even if it means a few flies get in sometimes. The walk to the school takes a while for some of the students who live further out in the district. We do not have any big slogans on the walls. It is just a place for children to come and learn their ABCs and numbers. Sometimes we have to fix a broken window or a door hinge that has come loose.
