Down in Peravurani Taluk, you'll find our office at the Jamalia Complex in Udaiyanadu. It’s door number 1/89 if you are looking for it. This area of Thanjavur is famous for its farming, and we are right in the thick of it. We are a collective of farmers who decided to pool our resources under the name Marutham. Life here moves at a different pace than the big cities. Most of our members are busy in their fields from dawn, so the office usually gets busy later in the afternoon. We handle things like seeds, fertilizers, and figuring out where to sell our produce so we don't get cheated on the price. It’s a straightforward setup. We don't have fancy furniture or a reception desk, just some desks and files where we keep track of everyone’s contribution. The Jamalia Complex is a well-known spot, so it’s easy for the farmers from surrounding villages to reach us. Sometimes we sit there and talk about the coconut crops or the rains for hours. It’s about more than just business; it’s about making sure our way of life stays viable in a changing world. We do all the work ourselves, from the heavy lifting to the boring bookkeeping. It’s just how things are done here in Peravurani. It's not always easy, but we manage somehow through the seasons.
