Nammazhvaar Collective Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at 1164 Sairam Nagar, on Kothagam Road in Gandharvakottai. We took our name from a man who really understood the land, and we try to honor that by focusing on how we treat our soil. We aren't a big, polished company with a fancy headquarters. Our office is a simple place where we keep our ledgers and meet to discuss the crops. It’s a collective of local farmers, so everything we do is for the benefit of the members. We spend a lot of time talking about organic methods and how to avoid the expensive chemicals. It’s not always easy, and sometimes the yields aren't as high as we'd like, but we feel it’s the right way to go. The road outside is usually quiet, except for the occasional tractor or motorcycle passing by. Inside, it’s often just a few of us drinking tea and going over the numbers for the month. We don't have a marketing department or a big advertising budget. We just grow what we can and work together to sell it. It’s a lot of hard work, and the weather is always a concern. If it doesn't rain when it should, we all feel the pressure. But being part of a collective means we aren't facing those problems alone. We’re just regular folks trying to keep farming traditions alive in our own way.
