Our place is located at 87 Pillaiayar Koil Street, right in Pagalmedu. That’s where the Ellapuram Block Paddy Producer Companylimited is set up. Dealing with paddy is what we do mostly because that's what the land here is good for. It's a local thing where several of us decided to pool our resources together. We aren't trying to be some big corporate office. Most of the time you’ll find someone here just checking on the bags or talking about the season's yield. The street is usually quiet unless it's time for transport. Being in the Ellapuram block means we stay close to the actual fields where the work happens. It’s hard work, and my hands are usually dusty from something or other. We manage the paddy from start to finish as best as we can. Some days it feels like there’s too much to do and not enough hands, but we manage. People stop by the office on Pillaiayar Koil Street to talk business or just check in on how things are going. We keep the books and handle the distribution from this spot. It’s just a practical way to run things for a group of paddy producers. We don't have any fancy brochures or anything like that. We just focus on the grain and making sure it gets where it needs to go. That’s really all there is to it. There is always a lot of dust from the bags, but that's part of the life here in Pagalmedu.
